First Night Of Wondering "Was I Right"

This was Gracie bed for the last week. Over all I really had a great experience of St. Mark's Hospital but a week of this I was done. I ask the doctor to let me take her home with oxygen. I had two boys, a dog and a husband to take care of. Not that I didn't have the support I just felt really torn.

Gracie and I went through all of the classes and testing to make sure her and I were ready to go home. So with monitor and oxygen canister in hand we went into the dark cold night. I barely got her in the car and the monitor goes off, I was so unsure of myself, but with help of calling my friend, I got her home. Not realizing the whole time she was sound asleep with the air tube out and the monitor had come off her foot.

After sanitizing the boys they got to hold their new baby sister and then off to bed with them. Razor gave her a royal welcome home with a lick on the cheek.

Paul finally gave up in going to bed in our bedroom when the monitor and the baby wouldn't stop beeping. Sofa bound until 5:30 when Dean got up and kicked him off of the sofa as well. 6:30 arrived, both boys up, no sleep for mom or dad, and Dean accidentally spilled his cereal, did I really care.

After feeding Gracie every hour until 2:00 a.m. I started wondering "should I have left her in the hospital for one more night, am I really ready for this, was I right." She finally fell asleep until 7:30.

I have realized maybe I bit more than I could chew, but as a family we will do it together, of course with a lot of help from extended family and friends. Thank you so much for all of you.

A week with Grammy and Grandpa Gary

The day of Gracie's actual birth, Grammy and Grandpa got to have Wyatt and Dean for a couple of days, it turned out a week, but whose counting. They had fun from coloring books to reading at night, to going on their own little field trips. Wyatt was going to miss school so he had to have a few educational moments. Here is what they got to do.

Utah Natural History Museum - Grammy knew that the boys had never been to this museum and neither had she, so off they went. It was a lot of fun from looking at hundreds of different rocks, to bugs, to indian ruins, to dinosaurs. Everything came somewhere in Utah.

By Thursday I knew I was very homesick for my boys so mom brought down the boys to see Gracie, have lunch at McDonalds and then off to the park to play.

Mom had tried for several days to get the boys on the frontrunner and knowing the last day she would have the boys she scouped them up along with Jack and off for a train ride. Randi and Brian were on the other end to take them to the children's treehouse museum which is like a hugh play house made up of several floors and a treehouse in the middle. Even though they weren't there for very long, they had a blast.

The very last thing they got to do was see their Uncle Nick ride in the cyclocross race in Heber. They met up with their Dad and their week of fun with Grammy and Grandpa were over.

My name

A funny little story. All the babies in the NICU have their names on the front of their beds. I don't know why Gracie got skipped. It was on day five I told Paul to make a sign for her so he pulled out his favorite sharpie and made this one on a dry wipe. The next day I came to feed her there was a new fancy sign on top. All morning I couldn't stop giggle.

The Gillespie Family

The Gillespie Family almost together.

The boys have come to see Gracie a few times. Luckily for us Gracie's little bed is just below this window.

Cute baby girl

My my she is always wide eye looking at the world and the people that love her.
Grammy bought this dancing frog for Gracie. It is a sweet pretty frog. I would like to blog about this frog with Gracie and watch it shrink before our eyes as baby Gracie grows.
Look how sad the dancing frog is to be all alone in Gracie's cradle.

Hi I'm Baby G

Hi I'm Baby G, they say that stands for Gracie Gillespie. I kind like that name. I got to see my mom and dad and they look kind of nice. I can see my mom cry every once in awhile, but Grandma tells me its just because mom is so happy that I am here finally. My mom told me I have two big brothers, Wyatt and Dean and they already told Grandma that they will take care of me and protect me. Hopefully they share their toys, whatever toys are, hopefully its fun.

I have had a little problem. Too much water in my lungs so I have to stay and be with these nice kind nurses for a little while longer.

Well I just wanted you to meet me and I am sure you will get to see more of me in the future. Bye for now.

The arrival of GRACIE GILLESPIE

While Mom is still in the hospital, I am creating this blog on behalf of my granddaughter Gracie Gillespie. Mom had been having contractions for several weeks so I am not sure if she is late or early, but she came in screaming like most babies. 9 lbs 3 oz, 20 inches long, and lots of dark brown hair. She came in with a storm. One of the first winter storms ended on November 15 and that is when she decided to join her two big brothers.

Gracie has had a little problem and so she and Mom need to stay in the hospital for a little longer. She had a little water on her lungs and they are trying to clear them out. Mom is doing well.
